Track athletes place in early showing at University of Arkansas meet

Twenty-four student-athletes competed the state indoor track meet at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville Feb. 21.
“It was a great opportunity and experience for our track teams. Some of our student-athletes have competed there before, but for the majority, it was an eye opening experience,” Coach Jeff Haynes said.
More than 1000 track athletes from class 5A – 7A schools competed.
Senior Dupree Swanson placed 29th out of 60 in the 60-meter hurdles and 4th out of 75 in the shot put.  Freshman Caleb Wrublusky finished 46 out of 82  in the 5:14 mile, and Keelan Fleming placed 29th out of 83 in the 200-meter dash.
Jesus Damian placed 39th out of 82 in the 400-meter dash, and junior Gideon Drake placed 29th out of 73 in the 800 meter.
“It was a good early season meet to give us a sense of how the rest of the season will go,” Drake said.
For the girls, senior Emily Milbourn placed 21st out of 54 in the 1600 meter and sophomore Mckaila Davis placed 18th out of 50 in the 800 meter.
